A test of faith...

"He said, "Do not stretch out your hand against the lad, and do nothing to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me."--Genesis 22:12.  This is probably one of the most gut wrenching accounts in the book of Genesis.  An account where Abraham is asked to offer up Isaac, the promised son through whom Israel would be born. I imagine Abraham failed to understand how God would bring about more descendants if Isaac was slain.  But Abraham trusted in God enough to do His will. Abraham knew that God would provide as we see in Genesis 22:8 and Genesis 22:14.  We find in verse 12 that the killing of Isaac was stopped and in verse 13, a "ram caught in the thicket" was sacrificed instead.  In reality, this event was a test of faith.

A test of faith.  What would you do if you were faced with having to give up what was most precious to you in order to carry out God's will? Would you do it?

A test of faith.  Here in the United States, I don't believe we will ever be faced with giving up our children for the sake of the Lord so I don't believe sacrificing a child is something we can fully relate to.

A test of faith. While the sacrifice of a child is something God would not ask us to do today, we do hear of situations where Christian families have lost a child very early in their lives.  This is just as gut wrenching and no doubt a test of faith.

A test of faith. My step sister and her husband lost her daughter (my step niece) last week.  This has no doubt tested their faith as well as mine but we have all chosen to trust God anyway.

A test of faith.  There will be times when we face losing something that is most precious to us. I pray reader, you will never have to bury your child. But if you have or know someone who has, go to that person reassuring them that God will provide comfort for them.  2 Corinthians 1:3, we see that God is a God of comfort.

My prayer is that you trust God will provide. DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! PRAY ABOUT IT! LOVE Y'ALL! GOD BLESS!
