God can't do this...

"So that by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have taken refuge would have strong encouragement to take hold of the hope set before us."--Hebrews 6:18.  The Hebrew writer here describes two unchangeable things about God: His purpose and His promise.  But something else to note about this verse is that this is one of the few verses we find that describes something God can't do and that is to lie.

God can't do this.  It is odd to think there is something God can't do but in reality it is not bad to think there is some things God can't do.  We should be happy that God can't do things like sin or do evil.  Why can't He do this? Because this would go against His unchangeable nature that is described here in Hebrews 6.  God can't change who He is.

God can't do this.  Personally, I am so thankful we serve a God who does not change and like this text says, a God who does not lie.

God can't do this.  Chances are any one who is reading this has had the experience of a person being one thing to your face and another when you turn your back. People change but God never does.

God can't do this.  Furthermore, there is a good chance any one who reads this has been lied to by someone else in some form or fashion.  People lie but God never does.

God can't do this.  I hate to admit that my experiences with people have taught me the hard way that the only person I can truly trust is God and God alone.  People lie but God never does.

God can't do this.  It is possible for people to lie but this text tells us it is IMPOSSIBLE FOR GOD TO LIE. People lie but God NEVER does.

God can't do this.  So my encouragement to you is simply this.  No practical application except to not reject the gospel message if you have not yet accepted it.  If you have, realize that our hope is not a wishful hope but a solid assurance that we will one day receive our reward.

DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! PRAY ABOUT IT! LOVE Y'ALL! GOD BLESS!
