"You shall say to the sons of Israel: 'Any man from the sons of Israel or from the aliens sojourning in Israel who gives any of his offspring to Molech, shall surely be put to death; the people of the land shall stone him with stones."--Leviticus 20:2. This command is dealing directly with child sacrifice. I am going a slightly different direction with this particular blog. You might be asking what does sacrifice to Molech have to do with us today? This sort of thing does not happen today or does it?
Sacrificing to Molech. Molech has been considered one of the most detestable pagan gods due to the fact that according to his followers, he required child sacrifice.
Sacrificing to Molech. The followers of Molech committed one of the most horrendous acts any human being could ever commit, the slaughtering of an innocent child.
Sacrificing to Molech. At this point, you probably see where I am going with this. Leviticus 20:2-3 says that God sets His face against anyone who would do such a thing as sacrifice their offspring.
Sacrificing to Molech. But again, this does not happen today, does it? Well, the unfortunate fact is that it does. In today's culture, Molech still exists but he goes by a different name. Molech goes by a name which is a familiar term to all of us, "pro-choice."
Sacrificing to Molech. The act of abortion is no different than the child sacrifices that took place in the pagan world God's people lived in during the times of the Old Testament.
Sacrificing to Molech. God detested the act then. He continues to detest it now. I am not here to make a political statement but simply to bring to light a sober reminder that the slaughtering of an innocent child by the way of abortion is something God hates.
