God's greatness: Part 1

God's greatness seen in nature on my road trip back to Colorado. This pic was taken outside of Primm, NV

"For what great nation is there that has a god so near to it as is the LORD our God whenever we call on Him?"--Deuteronomy 4:7.  First of all, love this verse! :-) This will be the first of a two part blog dealing with Deuteronomy 4:7-8 dealing first with what a great God we serve and then taking a look at why when it comes to His commandments, there are none greater.

None greater. This verse is pretty straightforward but have you ever taken time contemplate how awesome our God really is?  When you really think about it, there really is none greater than our God.

God''s greatness is clearly seen in the Scriptures.

God's greatness can be seen when we look at the world around us.

God's greatness can be seen when you take a look at the beauties of nature.  I have the blessing of seeing these beauties everyday here in Colorado.

Have you examined your own life lately? God's greatness can be seen in your own life.  He answers prayers. Many times in better ways than we could ever hope for.

I have seen God's greatness in my own life. In late 2009/early 2010, I made the decision to come to the Bear Valley Bible Institute of Denver.  With that one decision God's greatness has been clearly seen through the opportunities I have before me to serve Him in several different capacities including using my ability to speak Spanish to further the cause of the gospel of Christ among the Hispanic community.

Most importantly though.  God's greatness can be seen in the power He has to save us from our sinfulness through obeying the gospel by being baptized into Christ. Almost every other religion has gods that require us to constantly work for our salvation. But the salvation that comes from God requires us to simply believe that Jesus is Lord, repent of our sins, be baptized for the forgiveness of those sins and remain faithful to the teachings of Christ and the apostles. (See Acts 2:36-42).  Yes, the old law from the Old Testament was also works based but it was all pointing the way to God's greatness that is seen in the salvation we have in Christ. (See Galatians 3:23-29).

None greater.  So being that there is no greater god than the God we serve, my encouragement to you is this. Take some time to go out and enjoy God's creation by taking a hike in the mountains somewhere or if you live on the coast, take some time to head down to the beach.  When you do so, take some time to pray and to write down how God's greatness can be seen in His creation.  And remember, out of all the gods in the world (which are not really gods at all), there is none greater than our God.

DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! PRAY ABOUT IT! LOVE Y'ALL! GOD BLESS!
