Why listen to Jesus? This is why...

"For this reason we must pay closer attention to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away from it."--Hebrews 2:1.  The Hebrew writer begins chapter 2 by declaring that it is because Jesus is of a more excellent name and superior to the angels that we must pay closer attention to what has been said of Christ through apostles and prophets.  To a group of Christians who are thinking of digressing back to the old way of doing things, in chapter 1 the Hebrew writer has just given the reason why we should pay attention to what we know to be true about Jesus.  Why should we listen to Jesus? This is why.

This is why.  We should listen to Jesus because He is superior to the angels. (Hebrews 1:4)

This is why.  We should listen to Jesus because He is the Christ the Son of the living God. (Matthew 16:16)

This is why.  We should listen to Jesus because He is God (John 1:1, 14)

This is why.  We should listen to Jesus because no one comes to the Father except through Him (John 14:6)

This is why.  We should listen to Jesus because whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16)

This is why.  We should listen to Jesus because He has authority over the winds, seas, and all creation (Luke 8:25)

This is why.  We should listen to Jesus because God said to listen to Jesus (Mark 9:8)

This is why.  We should listen to Jesus because all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Him. (Matthew 28:18)

This is why.  Ultimately we should listen to Jesus because our soul depends on it.

This is why.  We should listen to Jesus because our soul depends on us following Christ.  In Mark 16:16 Jesus says whoever believes and has been baptized shall be saved but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned.

Why should we listen to Jesus?
